Netherlands Proofset 2016
|Theme||Wetenschappelijk Erfgoed in Nederland|
This is the last set of a 5-year series that have the subject of Dutch World Heritage. The theme of the 2016 Proof Set is Scientific Heritage in the Netherlands, in particular the polders (reclaimed land) in the Netherlands. Almost all polders in Europe are in the Netherlands. Almost 500 years ago the first polders emerged like the Purmer, the Schermer, the Wormer and the Beemster. Even the Zuiderzee (now the IJsselmeer) was partially reclaimed. The 2016 proof set of the Netherlands comprises all the Dutch euro coins from 2016 in the quality Proof. A Proof coin is struck with a special stamp and is of the highest quality. A proof coin also looks different from a coin in the quality BU or UNC. A Proof coin has an extra shine. Special to the 2016 coins of the Netherlands is that they are provided with an asterisk as the mint mark. Mint master Brouwer has sailing as a hobby, because of this he has stopped and there is no new mint-master as yet. This is indicated by an asterisk as the mint mark. The coins of the 2016 Dutch Proof Set are presented in a luxury package and are supplied with a detailed description.
