Portugal 5 Euro 2016 Modern Art

This Portuguese coin is the first coin of a series with the theme of Art. There are various artistic trends such as Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, and Modernism. This last trend æModernismÆ is the theme of the 2016 Portuguese 5 Euro coin. The coin, minted by the INCM, was designed by Rui Vazquez. On the face of the coin is a 1948 self-portrait by Almana Negreiros (1893-1970). At the top of the coin is the text æO Modernismo PortuguesÆ. On the bottom of the coin the value of 5 Euro along with the text "Almada Negreiros" is shown. This coin is part of the Europa Star program and in 2016 there are seven countries that will issue such a coin on the subject of Modernism. In addition to Portugal, the countries are Malta, Ireland, Finland, France, Spain and Italy. On the reverse of the coin, the Europa Star is clearly seen. The Portuguese coat of arms and the year 2016 are also shown.
