Portugal 7,5 Euro 2017 Carlos Lopes

Portugal issues a special series Sport Coins with a Nominal value of 7.5 Euro. These Portuguese Athletes have been of great significance for Portugal and the rest of the world. The theme of this Portuguese 7.5 Euro coin is Carlos Lopes. This famous runner won the Marathon during the Olympic Games in 1984. It was the first gold medal Portugal ever won during the Olympic Games. It was only the fourth Marathon that Carlos Lopes ever ran! In 1985 he won the Rotterdam Marathon in the unlikely time of less than 2 hours and 8 minutes which was an average speed of more than 20 kilometres per hour!!
