Product Description

Jacopo Robusti / Tintoretto (1518-1594) was a famous Italian painter. His father was a dyer, which in Italian is a æTintoreÆ. Jacopo Robusti was nicknamed Tintoretto, the little dyer. Tintoretto was from the Venetian school and drew much inspiration from Michelangelo. He had a special way of painting in which grey and lighting techniques were emphasized. Tintoretto has painted a large number of masterpieces. In the year 2018 it is 500 years ago that Tintoretto was born and in memory of this San Marino has issued a special 2 Euro coin. On the face of the coin a coloured fragment of the painting "Embrace" in which the virgin embraces Maria Elisabeth. This painting hangs in the Scuola Grande di San Rocco in Venice. On the upper left side of the coin, the country name San Mario is coloured in blue and the name Tintoretto is coloured white at the bottom of the coin. Above this name the year 1518 is blue-coloured while the year 2018 is white-coloured. The coin is packaged in a coin capsule.
