Product Description

Jacopo Robusti / Tintoretto (1518-1594) was a famous Italian painter. His father was a dyer, in Italian this is a æTintoreÆ. Jacopo Robusti was nicknamed Tintoretto (the little dyer). Tintoretto was from the Venetian school and drew much inspiration from Michelangelo. He had a special way of painting in which grey and lighting techniques were emphasized. Tintoretto has painted a large number of masterpieces. In the year 2018 it is 500 years ago that Tintoretto was born and in commemoration of this San Marino has issued a special 2 Euro coin. On the face of the coin a fragment of the painting "Embrace" is depicted in which the virgin embraces Maria Elisabeth. This painting hangs in the Scuola Grande di San Rocco in Venice. At the top left side of the coin is the name of the country, San Marino, while the name Tintoretto is at the bottom of the coin. Above the name are the years 1518 and 2018. The coin is presented in a luxurious package. The circulation of this coin is only 60,500 copies. Naturally the coin is legal tender.
