Slovenia has issued this special 2 Euro coin to commemorate the construction of Emona. Emona (in Latin Aemona) was built as a Roman settlement around the beginning of the era. It was the most Eastern Roman settlement. Emona is built on the site of the current Slovenian capital, Ljubljana. The settlement was rectangular with an area of approximately 400 x 500 metres, and was constructed using bricks. In the city of Ljubljana, in some places, the remains of the Roman settlement æEmonaÆ are still visible. On the coin the word Aemona / Emona is written cryptically. A stylized city wall is also seen on the coin. At the bottom of the coin is the text "Emona Ljubljana Slovenija 2015". In the outer ring of the coin are the 12 stars of Europe. The quality of the coin is UNC (Uncirculated) and the issue of this coin is 1,000,000 copies.
