Product Description
Worldwide, people are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of insects such as bees. The month of May is a beautiful spring month, everything blooms and the bees, especially, are very busy. Beekeeping is a centuries-old tradition in Slovenia. To date, there are more than 10,000 beekeepers! The Krainer Bee (also known as the Carniolan bee) is a familiar bee that occurs especially in Slovenia. Because bees are very important to life on earth, Slovenia has made an extra effort for the bees and the United Nations has declared the date May 20 as World Bee Day. A whopping 115 countries approved this on 20 December 2017 and the date 20 May will be the World Bee Day from the year 2018. To celebrate this, Slovenia has issued a special 2 Euro coin. Only 2,000 copies of this coin have been minted in the quality Proof! On the front of the coin a honeycomb in the shape of a globe is depicted upon which the Eastern Hemisphere can be seen. At the upper left side of the coin is the Slovenian text "SVETONI DAN CEBEL" (World Bee Day). On the bottom right of the coin the country name SLOVENIJA (Slovenia) along with the year 2018 are shown. In the outer ring of the coin are the 12 stars of Europe. The quality of this coin is Proof. This is the highest possible quality of a coin. The coin is struck with a special stamp and then packed with a gloved hand in the plastic coin capsule.
