Product Description

We have from available stock the special 2016 Spanish 2 Euro coin æSegoviaÆ. Segovia is a city in the middle of Spain, about 100 kilometres from Madrid. Segovia is famous for its notable aqueduct which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. An aquaduct is a channel that allows for the movement of water, usually by gravity. The Segovia aqueduct has been on UNESCO World Heritage List since 1985. It is unimaginable what the Romans could build about 2,000 years ago. The aquaduct consists of 20,400 granite blocks with no use of cement or concrete! The water is transported from the Frio River to Segovia. The Aquaduct is 729 meters long and has 165 arches and it was used until 1960! In the coat of arms of the city of Segovia the Aquaduct is plainly visible. This special 2016 Spanish 2 Euro coin portrays the Aquaduct of Segovia. Above is the name España (Spain) with the year 2016. In the outer ring of the coin are the 12 stars of Europe.
