Vatican 2 Euro 2016 Jubilee of Mercy Proof

Pope Franciscus has proclaimed the special æYear of MercyÆ. The jubilee year began on December 8, 2015 and ends on November 20, 2016. Due to this jubilee year, the Vatican has issued a special 2 Euro coin. On the coin is an image of Saint Martinus of Tours (St. Martin of Tours). Martinus from Tours shares his coat with a poor beggar. In a half circle, on the left side of the coin, is the text æGiubileo della MisericordiaÆ (Jubilee of Mercy) and on the right hand side of the coin in a semi-circle is the country name Citta del Vaticano (Vatican City). In the middle of the right is the year 2016, and at the outer ring of the coin are the 12 stars of Europe. The coin is presented in a luxury orange package. This package has the same colour as the 2 Euro coin æVatican PoliceÆ issued earlier in 2016. The texts on the packages are of course completely different. The quality of this coin is proof. A proof coin cannot be compared to a coin in the quality UNC or BU. The coin is presented in a luxury orange package and is supplied with a certificate.
