Austria has launched a whole new series of Euro coins with the theme of the æNight of AnimalsÆ. These coins are unique in that they are luminous! It is a series of 12 different coins, the theme of the first coin is the bat. The bat is a small animal that is found almost all over the world. There are species that are so small that they can easily be packaged in a matchbox and they weigh no more than a 20 Eurocent coin. A bat detects insects, and can be up to 30 years old. On the face of the coin there is a large bat flying between an old building and trees, these are the places where bats especially like to live. In addition, the 2016 and the name of the bat in German æFledermausÆ are shown. The reverse of this series of 12 coins is always the same, the 12 animals of this series are displayed in the centre of the coin along with some natural elements. In a circle is the name Republik Österreich (Republic of Austria). Centred at the bottom of the coin is the number 3 referring to the value of the coin, along wi th the word Euro.
