Austria 20 Euro 2020 Concorde

The theme of the 20 Euro from Austria 2020 is 'The Concorde'. The Concorde was a supersonic passenger aircraft that flew over 2,400 kilometres per hour, more than twice as fast as the speed of sound! Only 16 Concordes and 4 prototypes have been built. The plane first flew in 1969 and made its last flight in 2003. The Concorde flew from New York to Paris in just three and a half hours. The sound of this plane can no longer be imagined, think of the bang breaking through the sound barrier, which is why it was called the Thunderbird. The face of the coin shows the experimental test plane 'the Bell X-1. Furthermore, the cockpit and a pilot with his oxygen mask are shown. The value indication of 20 Euro, the year of issue, 2020, and the country name 'Republik Österreich' (Republic of Austria) are also displayed.
