Product Description
This is the tenth coin of the Austrian series which have as their theme animals of the night. The subject of this tenth coin is the turtle. Turtles belong to the reptile family group. Turtles live in the tropical parts of all continents of the world. Turtles love heat. There are more than three hundred different species of turtles many of which are seriously endangered. There are mini turtles that are only a few centimetres in size, but there are also the so-called leatherback turtles with a span of more than 2.4 metres! In addition, the alligator turtle is the most dangerous turtle in the world. Turtles lay eggs, which is something that makes these animals unique. They crawl from their safe watery environment and often lay their eggs on beaches or other sandy places. It is very easy for predators to graze this slow prey on the beach. However, everyone knows that a turtles hard shell makes it very difficult for the predators to enjoy their meal. However, a predator can cause serious injuries. Turtles, on the other hand, are fortunate enough in that their wounds regenerate. Their wounds are repaired by the body! The oldest tortoise in the world is the giant tortoise Jonathan with an age of 188 years. This is also the oldest animal in the world! The special feature of this 3 Euro coin is that it is luminous. The reverse of this series of coins is always the same û the animals of this series are depicted. Furthermore, in an arc, the country name Republik Österreich (Republic of Austria) and the value of 3 Euro are shown.
