Product Description
Austria 3 Euro 2023 'Swell Shark'. The Swell Shark (a catshark in the family Scyliorhinidae. It is found in the tropical and subtropical eastern Pacific Ocean) is a shark with dark brown spots and dots that can grow up to 1.2 metres. The Swellshark (scientific name - Cephaloscyllium ventriosum) is mainly found deep in the ocean, where it remains motionless in a hollow light during the day and swims over the seabed in search of prey at night. The Swell Shark can inflate its belly with water and make itself glow. Hence the name - Swell shark. The greatest enemy, however, remains man. Because they reproduce slowly and they are often caught as bycatch, the population is decreasing. On the face of the coin a Swell Shark is shown swimming between the coral. The year of issue, 2023, is also shown. In the outer ring is a Shell and a Starfish, which can be found on every coin from this series! The reverse of this series of coins is always the same, i.e. a silhouette of each sea creature in this 12-piece series. Furthermore, the country name Republik Österreich (Austria) and the value indication of 3 Euro are shown encircling these images. The coin is packaged in a printed coin holder.
