Belgium 2 Euro 2019 EMI Proof

The European Monetary Institute (EMI) was established on 1st January, 1994 with the aim of establishing a European banking unit. A European System of Central Banks that works together to create a stable Europe. The EMI even got legal personality! Everyone knows the ultimate creation of the EMI, namely the Euro currency. Guilders, Marks, Crowns, Escudos, Pesetas, Francs, Lire, Schillings, are now past tense! An incredible development within Europe. On 1 January the Euro was introduced and the EMI disappeared, the European Central Bank was called into existence. They were so proud of the EMI that they even elected a president. There have been 2 presidents of the EMI, namely, Alexandre Lamfalussy and Willem Frederik Duisenberg. Willem Frederik Duisenberg took over the wheel from 1997 and subsequently became the first president of the ECB. It has been 25 years since the EMI was established and hence the Belgium has decided to issue a commemorative 2 Euro coin. On the face of the coin is an image of the first president, Alexandre Lamfalussy. In the upper left corner is the English text 'European Monetary Institute'. The year 1994 along with the letters 'EMI' is shown in the centre of the coin. The name A.Lamfalussy is displayed under his portrait together with the year 2019. This coin is minted in the highest quality i.e. Proof. After minting the coin is packed with the greatest care in the new blue luxury packaging. A certificate of authenticity is supplied with this special 2 Euro coin.
