Product Description
In the year 1467 King Matthias Curvinus founded the University of Istropolitana. This University based in Bratislava was the first Slovakian University. In Greek Istropolitana is Istropolis which means a city on the Danube, Bratislava being one of these. In the year 2017, it is 550 years since this University was founded, and in memory of this, Slovakia has issued a special 2 Euro coin. On the coin there are a number of sitting figures û a teacher with two students. In the background is the original building of the University of Istropolitana. This university no longer exists. At the top left of the coin is a Medallion with the image of King Matthias Curvinus. Furthermore, the text æUniverzita IstropolitanaÆ and the year 1467 is aso shown. At the bottom of the coin is the country name Slovensko (Slovak Republic) and the year 2017. The 2017 Slovakian 2 Euro æUniversity IstropolitanaÆ coin is packed in a coincard. This coincard was issued at the same time as the special 2 Euro coin. This special coincard with 2 Euro coin, and the history of the Istropolitana University, are described in more detail in Slovak and English. The Coincard has an issue of only 4,000 copies, and each Coincard has a unique number.
