Lithuania 20 Euro 2018 Vydunas

Vilius Storostas (1868-1953) - Nickname Vydunas - was a leading Lithuanian philosopher and writer. It was a pronounced theosophist. Vydunas was actually born as a German Prussian. His name was Wilhelm Storost in his passport and he lived the last part of his life in Germany. He is regarded in Lithuania as a National figure of his country. In the year 2018 it is 150 years ago that Vydunas was born. In memory of this, Lithuania has issued a special Euro coin with a nominal value of 20 Euro. On the face of the coin Vydunas is portrayed looking obliquely to the left. On the left side of the coin is his nickname Vydunas. On the reverse of the coin is an image of the old Queen Louis Bridge. This bridge over the river Memel connects the current Kaliningrad with Lithuania. Near the bank of this bridge is the village of Silute where Vydunas was born. At the top of the coin is the country name Lietuva (Lithuania) together with the year 2018. On the right side of the coin Vytis, the symbol of Lithuania, is depicted. At the bottom of the coin the value indication of 20 Euro is shown. Vydunas was also depicted on the last 200 Litas banknote of Lithuania. The coin is presented in a luxury package and is delivered with a certificate of authenticity.
