Finland 2 Euro 2017 100 Years Finland Coloured

In 2017 Finland has existed for only 100 years and is a young, independent country. After it had been a part of Sweden for hundreds of years, it became part of Russia in 1809. In 1917 Finland declared itself independent and created the fragile Finnish Republic. Finland was forced to manoeuvre, with difficulty, between Russia and the West, especially after the Second World War. Now it's a young modern republic. In the year 2017 it is 100 years since the independent republic of Finland was founded. To commemorate this Finland has issued a special 2 Euro coin. The coin is a mosaic designed by designer Simon Örnberg. Because Finland is a land with much nature and lakes, the coin is green and blue, the lakes, naturally, are blue. Colouring this coin, especially the mosaic points, is extremely difficult, and it is the first coloured coin with such a degree of precision! In this Green - Blue Mosaic Finland's country outline is beautifully printed. On the left side of the coin are the years 1917 and 2017 vertically a s well as the country name Finland and Suomi. These are coloured in blue and white, the national colours of Finland. Suomi is Finnish and Finland is Swedish. Finnish and Swedish are the official languages in Finland. The coin is packed in a coin capsule.
