Product Description
Since 2006, Germany has been issuing a series of coins focusing on a Bundesland (federal province). On these special 2 Euro coins is a representative building or monument of the relevant Bundesland. The order of the federal states depends on the chairmanship of the Federal Council. In the year 2006 the Bundesland Schleswig Holstein held the chairmanship of the 'Bundesrat' (Federal Council). In the year 2019, Schleswig Holstein is once again president of the Bundesrat and the series has been suspended. In 2019, it was decided to show the building of the Bundesrat on this special 2 Euro coin as an alternative to a provincial bulding. The series will start again in 2020 with the province of Brandenburg, Sachsen-Anhalt's turn will be in 2021 and the series will conclude in 2022 with the Bundesland Thüringen. This beautifully coloured 2 Euro coin shows a true-to-life image of the façade of the Bundesrat (Federal Council building) which can be found in Berlin. At the bottom of the coin the name Bundesrat is coloured yellow and below that is the red-coloured letter 'D' which indicates the country name Germany (Deutschland). The letter indicating where the coin was minted is shown at the top left of the coin. The German coins are minted in one of five different federal mints which are indicated by a mint letter: A = Berlin, D = Munich, F = Stuttgart, G = Karlsruhe and J = Hamburg. This completely coloured series contains coins minted at each of the five federal mints.
