Ireland 2 Euro 2019 Dail Eireann Coloured

Ireland had a struggle of over five years with England to become an independent country. The first protests came in 1916 (Easter Rising) and they continued. There was a provisional parliament with 73 members, the Dail Eireann. This was prompted by elections in December 1918. The parliament met in the Mansion House in Dublin. The first session of the Dail Eireann was on 21st January, 1919. Although the Dail Eireann did not yet have full powers of attorney, it was nevertheless influential until the true independence of Ireland that would last for years. As a reminder of the first session of the National Assembly of Ireland (Dail Eireann) Ireland has issued a special 2 Euro coin. Prominently, on the face of this coloured 2 Euro coin, is the text 'An Chead' coloured in white, 'Dail' (the first seat) coloured in Orange and, at the top of the coin the year 1919 is coloured green. Together these colours make up the colours of the flag of Ireland. In the background of this text the people who participated in this first session of the National Assembly of Ireland are symbolically represented.
