Product Description
As of 2017 San Marino changed the motif of its euro coins. From 2002 to 2016 Palazzo Publico was shown on the normal 2 Euro coins of San Marino. Each Euroland may change the motif of its Euro coins after 15 years, and San Marino is the first country to do this. From 2017 there will be a completely different picture on the normal 2 Euro coins. On the normal 2 Euro coins a detail of the painting Madonna in Gloria is depicted. This painting was painted around the year 1640 by Giovan Battista Urbinelli, also called Urbinelli of Urbino. The painting is in the National Museum of San Marino. On the coin is a detail of the painting which shows Saint Marino, who holds the Three Towers of San Marino safely in his hands. This image is perfectly coloured according to the original fragment of the painting. On top of the right is the name of San Marino in white and on the right the year 2017 in blue. These colours are the national colours of San Marino. In the outer ring of the coin you can see the 12 stars of Europe.
