Product Description
This is the first coin from a series of three that have as their theme 825 years of the Viennese Mint. Some 800 years ago there were several crusades to Israel. Several Kings of that time took part in such a crusade. There was a battle between the English King Richard the Lionheart and Leopold V and Lionheart was captured. After solid negotiations, and a payment of an immense sum of silver, Lionheart was released. From the silver that they received as ransom the first silver coins were minted and the Mint of Vienna was born! The first coin from this series of three coins has as its subject Leopold V. On the face of the coin is an image of a knight on horseback together with the name Republik Oesterreich (Republic of Austria). Furthermore, the value indication of 1.5 Euro and the year 2019 are shown. Remarkably, the weight of the coin is a troy Ounce (31.07 grams) of pure silver. On the reverse of the coin Leopold V is depicted in a combat posture. Additionally, the year 1194 is shown.
