Austria 10 Euro 2019 Knight Accolade Silver BU

Austria is issuing five 10 Euro coins with the theme of 'knights'. This second coin from this series is the sign of the knight's accolade. A young man lowers his head while kneeling, and touched on his shoulder with a sword. At this official ceremony the young man (formerly a squire) becomes a knight, thereby swearing to be faithful to the applicable codes of honour. Knights belonged to the military elite and were seen as the most powerful fighters in the Middle Ages. Honour, loyalty, generosity, honesty and strength were the standards of the knights. The face of the coin shows a king, among the columns of his palace, performing the service of making a squire into a knight while three other knights attend the ceremony. On the reverse is a knight who is holding a shield and a hatchet. The Jerusalem Cross is seen on the chest of the knight and on the shield. This shield is symbolically held by a unicorn. The value indication of 10 Euro is displayed at the top whilst at the bottom of the coin is the country name 'REPUBLIK OSTERREICH' (Republic of Austria) together with the year 2019. The quality of this coin is BU and 'Handgehoben'. This is a German expression for the fact that the coin has been packed by hand with the utmost care. The coin is packed in a beautiful blister.
