Austria 20 Euro 2018 Silent Night Coin

It is Christmas Eve 1818. On this evening for the first time a song is played in the Sint Nikola Chapel in Oberndorf (near Salzburg) which is without doubt the most famous Christmas song in the world. For the first time the "Silent Night" carol was sung. It had to sound like a lullaby at the Christmas Crib. The more familiar the song became, the more unknown the source of the song! There were even people who thought the origin was from America! Nothing is less true! Billions of people know the Silent Night song that has been recorded on the Immaterial Culture List of UNESCO since 2011. This world famous carol has been played for 200 years and Austria has released a special 20 Euro coin to commemorate this. On the face of the coin the "Silent Night" Chapel of Saint Nicholas is shown in a Snowy Landscape. On the right side of the coin is a blue and golden starry sky with the Star of Bethlehem at the top. The special thing about these stars is that they are luminous! Furthermore, the value indication of 20 Euro and the country name Republik Österreich (Republic of Austria) are shown. On the reverse of the coin is the nativity scene of the Saint Nicholas Chapel where the Silent Night carol sounded for the first time. In the foreground Joseph and Mary are depicted with the Christ child. The quality of the coin is Proof and the coin is presented in a luxurious package. The coin is delivered with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
