Austria 20 Euro 2019 The dream of Flight

Austria presents a three-part series of coins with a nominal value of 20 Euro that have as their theme the Dream of Flying. This first coin of the series has as its subject the first attempts that man undertook to fly. Man has always had the dream of being able to fly, however, it took thousands of years before this finally succeeded with hot-air balloons, airplanes, etc. A well-known tale is that of Icarus who, with his construction of wood and wax, flew too close to the sun where the wax melted causing his craft to crash. The designs of Otto Lilienthal, which were up to 250 metres in size must also not be forgotten. On the face of the coin is an image of Icarus with a hot air balloon in the background. Furthermore, the country name Republik Oesterreich (Republic of Austria) is shown together with the value indication of 20 Euro beneath which is the year 2019. On the reverse of the coin Otto Lilienthal is depicted attempting to fly. In the background is a landscape with houses, trees and spectators. The coin is depicted in the style of a compass. The coin is presented in a luxury package and is delivered with a certificate of authenticity.
