Austria 3 Euro 2019 Otter

This is the eleventh coin from the series of Austrian coins that have the theme of animals of the night. The subject of this eleventh coin is the otter. The otter is marten-like and has hairy brown fur. Otters live mainly in Europe and Asia and have a size of between 70 and 135 cm including the tail. An otter swims up to 10 hours a day and therefore burns a lot of calories. To have enough energy otters have to hunt. In addition to fish, an otter also eats insects, rats, frogs and even birds. Otters eat around four fish a day. They are especially active at night and usually solitary. Otters are not only located in low-lying countries û for example, in Tibet otters live at altitudes of up to 4300 metres! The otter is dependent on clean water and enough food, hence the otter does not live in polluted waters. The special thing about this 3 Euro coin is that it is luminescent. On the face of the coin an otter is depicted in its beautiful colours. In the background is an otter who has caught a fish, and who is swimming in the water near a waterfall. At the bottom of the coin is the word 'FISCHOTTER'. The reverse side of this series of coins is always the same, namely a picture of the animals represented in the series. Encircling these images are the words 'Rep ublik Österreich' (Republic of Austria) and the value indication of 3 Euro.
