Austria 3 Euro 2022 'Blue-Ringed Octopus'. The Blue-Ringed Octopus is a deep-sea creature that has eight tentacles . It can change its skin colour and even flash its rings. The rings are normally yellow/brown but when they feel threatened they turn blue. This tiny Octopus, measuring less than 20 centimetres, has enough poison to kill as many as 30 people. If a Blue-Ringed Octopus loses a tentacle in battle it will grow back on its own! The Blue-Ringed Octopus is a smart animal that has a brain but also brains in every tentacle! They only live for a year or two and are mainly found in the Indian Ocean. On the face of the coin a Blue-Ringed Octopus is depicted together with two Peacock Emperor Fish. The name of the octopus is shown in German 'Blaugeringelter Krake'. At the bottom of the coin are a Shell and a Starfish, which are shown on all coins from this series!
