Product Description
Austria is issuing five 10 Euro coins dedicated to the knights. This fourth coin from this series is all about steadfastness. The Crusaders who migrated to Jerusalem in the early Middle Ages also needed care, which is why the Johannite Order was established in 1099. These Johannites fought against hunger, homelessness, abandonment, disease, and cared for the people who needed it. The face of the coin depicts a knight with a drawn sword and shield. Next to this knight is a hippocampus, a mystical creature from Greek mythology. The shield of the Johannite Order is shown in its original colours. At the top of the coin is the value indication of 10 Euro whilst at the bottom is the country name 'Republik Osterreich' (Republic of Austria) below which is the year of issue, 2020. On the reverse of the coin a Johannite is depicted negotiating with a merchant at a market stall. The quality of this coin (as described above) is BU and Handgehoben. This is a German expression for the fact that the coin has been hand-wrapped with the greatest care. The coin is presented in a beautiful blister.
