Belgium 2 Euro 2021 BLEU Coincard French. 2021 Belgian 2 Euro 2021 'BLEU'. Belgium has issued a 2 Euro coin in 2021 with the theme of the Belgian-Luxembourg Economic Union - abbreviated as 'BLEU'. This Belgian-Luxembourg Economic Union was concluded between Belgium and Luxembourg on 25th July, 1921 and originally had a period of 50 years. In addition to a customs union, it was also a currency union in which the Luxembourg franc and the Belgian franc were linked. The coins were identical from 1921 to 1935 and from 1944 to 2002, after which both countries switched to the Euro. The face of the coin shows King Philippe I of Belgium and Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg facing to the right. Furthermore, the outline maps of both Belgium and Luxembourg are shown.
