Belgium 2 Euro 2021 'Carolus V' - UNC

2021 Belgium 2 Euro coin 'Carolus V' (Charles V). Belgium has issued a 2 Euro coin with the theme Carolus V who was born in the Prinsenhof in Ghent on 24th February 1500. (The Prinsenhof was the official residence of the Counts of Flanders from the 15th century). He became one of the greatest rulers of all time, also ruling many areas in America and Asia. By comparison his empire was bigger than the Roman Empire ever was! Emperor Carolus V had his own golden Carolus guilder coin made in the year 1521. This gold Carolus guilder was made 500 years ago, which is why the Royal Mint of Belgium has decided to issue a special 2 Euro coin with it as its topic. On the face of the coin is an image of Emperor Carolus V looking to the left - around his neck he wears the jewel, called the 'Order of the Golden Fleece'. The original gold Carolus guilder is depicted on the left of this coin. Furthermore, his name 'Carolus V' is shown and the year 2021 is displayed. The coin is packed in a printed coin holder.
