On this date the Armistice was signed which put an end to a war during which the Belgian population suffered terribly. As a reminder of the Armistice of 11 November 1918, a special commemorative coin with a nominal value of 5 Euro has been issued. On the face of the coin is a picture of a poppy. This is the symbol of the First World War. The poppy grew luxuriantly on the war-worn battlefields. Furthermore, a Belgian Army Helmet from the First World War is depicted. At the top of the coin the date 11-11 above 1918 is shown along with the word Armistice. On the right side of the coin is the year 2018. On the reverse of the coin to the left is a picture of the map of Europe. Around this the country name Belgium is printed in its three official languages, being Belgique (French), Belgie (Dutch) and Belgien (German). Furthermore, the value indication of 5 Euro is shown with the year 2018 below.
