Belgium BU 2023

2023 Belgium BU set. The BU set of Belgium 2023 has the theme 'Eupen'. Eupen, located in the east of Belgium, has more than 21,000 inhabitants. This German-speaking city has a beautiful location, on a slope of the very famous Vesder valley. Eupen grew through the cloth manufacturers and the wool merchants in the 18th century. The very famous Sint-Niklaaskerk was also built there. Eupen is known for the Vesder Dam which can hold back more than 25 million cubic metres of water. The 'Barrage de la Gileppe', the oldest reservoir in Belgium is also in Eupen. This reservoir was flooded in 1875 and officially opened by King Leopold II on 28th July, 1878 and can hold back no less than 26 million cubic metres of water. Belgium has issued two special 2.5 Euro coins in 2023, namely 'Cycling Experience' and 'Festival Culture'. These are also included in this 2023 BU set. This means that the BU set comprises the complete set of eight euro coins (i.e. 1 Cent coin up to and including the Normal 2 coin) and as an extra the two special 2.5 Euro coins are included! Various 2023 coins of Belgium will not come into circulation separately.
