Cyprus 2 Euro 2020 Normal

The Idol of Pomos is depicted on this normal 2 Euro coin from Cyprus 2020. The idol of Pomos is a copper statue found in Pomos, which is located in the west of Cyprus. The statue, which is about 5,000 years old, is supposed to represent a person holding his arms akimbo. It is believed to have been a symbol of fertility. Because it is a typical example of an ancient Cypriot art this statue is shown on the 2 Euro coins of Cyprus. Incidentally, the statue can also be seen on the Cypriot 1 Euro coins. This 2 Euro coin of the year 2020 features an image of the Idol of Pomos. At the top left of the coin is the country name 'Cyprus' in Greek and at the top right in Turkish.
