Cyprus 5 Euro 2018 10 Years Euro in Cyprus

Cyprus introduced the Euro as its currency on 1 January 2008. In the year 2018 it is 10 years since this occurred and to commemorate this Cyprus has issued a special silver 5 Euro coin. On the face of the coin is an image of a Talent. The Talent symbolizes a timeless bridge from the cultural and monetary past of Cyprus to the new era of the Euro. A Talent is an ancient expensive monetary unit. A talent had a weight of 34.2 kilos and a worker had to work almost 15 years to earn a Talent! To the left and right of the image of the Talent are images of the Euro sign. Above the talent are the 12 stars of Europe. At the top of the coin is the Greek text meaning "Cyprus Introduction of the Euro" and at the bottom of the coin are the years 2008 and 2018. In the centre of the reverse of the coin the flag of Cyprus is depicted along with the year 1960, the year that Cyprus became independent. At the top the coin the country name Cyprus is shown in three languages û English, Greek and Turkish. The coin is presented in a luxury package and is delivered with a certificate of authenticity. The edition of this special coin is only 2,000 copies!
