Cyprus 5 Euro 2019 University of Cyprus

The 2019 Cypriot 5 Euro coin has the theme '30 years of the University of Cyprus'. The university was opened in 1989 in Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus. The University of Cyprus is a public university where many Turkish students also study. Turkish residents can even study at university with a high school diploma, they only have to pass an entrance exam! The university has 6 faculties where the literature sciences are highly regarded. The University of Cyprus is on the world ranking list of universities at position 488. The University has been in existence for 30 years, which is why Cyprus has issued this 5 Euro coin. The face of the coin shows the logo of the Bank of Cyprus. At the top of the coin the country name Cyprus is printed in three languages. Centrally, below the country name, is the year of issue, 2019. On the reverse of the coin the logo of the university is shown. Part of this logo is repeatedly displayed in the outer ring in a circular form. Encircling the logo is the Greek text which translates as 'University of Cyprus, 30 years after its foundation'. The value indication of 5 Euro is displayed in the centre. The coin is presented in a blue cas sette of which only 2,000 copies are made!
