Product Description

Cyprus has issued a 5 Euro coin with the theme 'Leda and the Swan'. Leda was the Goddess of Fertility who was married to Tyndareus, the king of Sparta. Supreme God Zeus was attracted to Leda and wanted to have children with her, Leda refused this, which is why Zeus turned into a swan in order to get closer to Leda. Nine months later Leda had two children, named Helen and Polydeukes, who were born from an egg. Later Leda also had two children from Tyndareus, named Castor and Clytaemnestra. The face of the coin shows Leda and the Swan depicted in mosaic, based on a 3rd century mosaic that hangs in the Museum of Cyprus, located in Nicosia. The value indication of 5 Euro is also displayed. On the reverse of the coin is the logo of the Bank of Cyprus, above which is the year 2020. The country name Cyprus is displayed in three languages (English, Greek and Turkish). The coin is presented in a beautiful cassette and is supplied with a certificate of authenticity.
