Finland 10 Euro 2018 Baroque and Rococo

Finland has also released its special coin in the series which have as their theme the different artistic periods. The subject of the year 2018 is the Baroque and Rococo period. The baroque style came from Italy in the 17th century and the style that followed, the Rococo, had its origin more or less in France. The Baroque is Extravagant with rich decorations and the Rococo was more elegant and provided with beauty. This style was not very common in Finland. The architect / soldier Augustin Ehrensvärd was commissioned by the Swedish king to build a fort on an island off the coast of Helsinki. The name was Svaeborg (Sweden Castle) and from 1917 it was called Suomenlinna (Fortress of Finland). Since 1991 the fort has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Baroque style is seen in different parts of the fort and the Rococo can be seen in different living areas of the fort. On the face of the coin is an image of Augustin Ehrensvärd with a map of the fortified island. On the left is the name Augustin Ehrensvärd and at the bottom the value indication of 10 Euro is shown. In addition to this value indication, the two names æSuomenlinnaÆ and æSvaeborgÆ are printed. On the reverse of the coin the Finnish Lion is depicted in the centre. Above it is the country name Suomi (Finnish) and Finland (Swedish) along with the year 2018. Around the outside of the coin are the Swedish words æEuroopan AikakaudetÆ and the Finnish words æEuropeiska EpokerÆ. These translate as æEuropean AgeÆ. Furthermore, a large five-pointed star that characterizes this series of coins is shown, and of course the Europa Star is not missing on this coin. The coin is presented in a luxurious birch-wood packaging and is delivered with a certificate.
