Finland 2 Euro 2020 University of Turku

The theme of the 2020 Finland 2 Euro coin is '100 years of the University of Turku'. The University of Turku was founded on 28th February, 1920 - the day of the Kalevala. The university is Finland's second largest university with over 18,000 students. The university was founded because 22,040 contributors donated an amount so that the construction could be realized. To honour all the people who had donated, a liqueur called 22040 was then created. On the face of the 2020 Finnish 2 Euro coin is an abstract network symbolizing the interaction between universities and society. The coin is packaged in a printed coin holder.
