Finland 2 Euro 2020 Väinö Linna

Väinö Linna was a Finnish writer who has written many works in his life. He has also had a lot of influence in Finland's political and cultural life. Although Väinö Linna mainly wrote novels he has also written many poems. However, no publishers were interested in his poems so he reluctantly stopped. In 1947 his first novel was published, however, his best-known work, 'Tuntematon sotilas' (The Unknown Soldier), wasn't published until 1954. This novel was later made into a film. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Väinö Linna Finland has decided to issue a special 2 Euro coin. Väinö Linna is portrayed on the face of the coin. His name is shown on the left whilst at the bottom of the coin is the year of issue, 2020. The coin is packaged in a printed coin holder.
