France 10 Euro 2019 Idefix

Asterix is a French comic series with the main characters Asterix and his great friend Obelix. Asterix was conceived by the French draftsman Albert Uderzo and writer René Goscinny. The series has been released worldwide and translated into more than 100 different languages. The series is set in Gaul. This village was the only one able to resist the invasion of Julius Caesar with the help of a magic potion that makes the Gauls super strong and invincible. Asterix, Obelix and the dog Idefix are central to the many episodes. 60 years ago, on 29th October, 1959, the very first episode of Asterix appeared. To commemorate this, the Monnaie de Paris (Central Bank of France) has decided to issue a 10 Euro coin dedicated to Idefix. Idefix is shown in three different drawings on the face of the coin. In the background are many French quotes that were mentioned in the comic books. The name Idefix is displayed at the bottom of the coin, in large format. The letters 'RF' which stand for the country name Republic of France (République Française) are shown below the name Idefix. Asterix is shown running on the reverse of the coin. In an arc at the top of the coin is the text '60th ANNIVERSAIRE' (60th anniversary). The value indication of 10 Euro, together with the year of issue 2019, are displayed to the right of the coin. The coin is presented in a beautiful cassette.
