France 10 Euro 2022 'Asterix, Obelix and Idefix'. Asterix is a French comic book series starring Asterix and his great friend Obelix. Asterix was created by the French artist Albert Uderzo and writer René Goscinny. The series has been released worldwide and translated into more than 100 different languages. The series is set in the village of Gaul which, with the help of a magic potion, was the only village to resist the invasion of Julius Caesar. This potion makes the Gauls super-strong and invincible. Asterix, Obelix and the dog Idefix take centre stage in the many episodes. More than 60 years ago, on 29th October, 1959, the very first episode of Asterix appeared. On the face of the coin Asterix, Obelix and Idefix are coloured. On the reverse of the coin, they are not coloured.
