Product Description
France 10 Euro 2022 'Smiley'. The smiling face, that almost everyone knows, was created in 1971 by the Frenchman Franklin Loufrani. In 1997 his son, Nicolos Loufrani, started developing hundreds of variants of the standard well-known smiley. The Smiley is most commonly used in smartphones, but they are also widely used in commercials and advertisements. The Smiley was first used in a French newspaper in 1972. Because this happened 50 years ago the 'Monnaie de Paris' (Paris Mint) decided to issue this special 10 Euro coin. On the face of the coin the Smiley that Franklin Loufrani invented in 1971 is depicted. Centred on the reverse of the coin the value indication of 10 Euro is encircled by the country name 'République Française' (Republic of France). An oak leaf and a laurel leaf are also prominently featured. Furthermore, a number of hexagons, which roughly indicate the contours of France, are shown. The coin is presented in an attractive blister pack.
