France 2 Euro 2019 Asterix, Obelix and Idefix

'Asterix' is a French comic series with the main characters Asterix and his great friend Obelix. Asterix was conceived by the French draftsman Albert Uderzo and writer René Goscinny. The series has been released worldwide and translated into more than 100 different languages. The series is set in Gaul. This village was the only one able to resist the invasion of Julius Caesar with the help of a magic potion which makes the Gauls super-strong and invincible. Asterix, Obelix and the dog Idefix are central to the many episodes. 60 years ago, on 29th October, 1959, the very first episode of Asterix appeared. To commemorate this France has decided, for the first time in the history of the Euro currency, to display a cartoon character on a 2 Euro coin. On the face of this 2 Euro coin Asterix is portrayed looking to the right with his name written above the image, together with the letters 'RF' (République Française). He wears his well-known Gallic helmet with the characteristic wings. The coin also shows 'LX ANS' ( 60 years) and 'MMXIX' (2019). This is the series of three Coincards containing the special €2 coin 'Asterix'. The coins are packed in three different coincards - one coincard with Asterix and Obelix, one with only Obelix and one coincard with Asterix and Idefix. By ordering this series all three different coincards are supplied. Please note - only 100,000 copies of each Coincard are available.
