France 2 X 50 Euro 2020 The Smurfs Part 2

For the second time France has issued two 50 Euro coins with the theme 'The Smurfs'. The Smurfs were born from an idea of Peyo. That was in the late 1950s. An exact date is not known but it is assumed to be 1958. Actually, the Smurfs were based on French where they are called Les Schtroumpfs. Only later did the Dutch name 'Smurfs' emerge. The French roots are also visible through the Phrygian Hats that the 101 different Smurfs wear. Just like the trousers and shoes, the hat is coloured white, whilst the body of these little dwarfs is coloured light blue. Well-known Smurfs are Papa Smurf, Smurfette, the Euro Coin Smurf, the Music Smurf, the Hefty Smurf and not to forget their biggest enemy, Garmamel, with his cat Azraël. Both coins are packaged in a unique blister package. The theme of the first coin is 'Greedy Smurf' - the Smurf who loves culinary delights. Greedy Smurf is seen running after 'Chef Smurf'. The second coin has the theme 'Smurf in Love' who is the Smurf that is most in love of all Smurfs with Smurfette. Smurfette is, of course, also seen on this beautiful coin. Both coins are beautifully coloured and attractively presented in beautiful packaging.
