Germany 2 Euro 2018 Coincard Helmut Schmidt BU

Germany has issued a Coincard in which the special 2018 German 2 Euro coins issued in memory of Helmut Schmidt (23.12.1918 - 10.11.2015) are packaged. Helmut Schmidt was a real æHamburgerÆ, he lived almost his entire life in Hamburg. As a young man he fought in the German Wehrmacht. After his study as an economist, he joined the SPD in the Bundestag, the German parliament. He held various ministerial positions, and from 1974 to 1982 was Chancellor of Germany. Since the Second World War Germany has had only eight Federal chancellors so far! He was very interested in music, spoke fluent English and was a chain smoker until his death. His tenure was characterized by austerity and sobriety, with a great cooperation in Europe, especially France. Furthermore, with his Eastern politics he sought a rapprochement with the East, a policy that was continued by his successor Helmut Kohl (CDU). On the coin Helmut Schmidt is shown talking to a discussion partner in his characteristic attitude. At the top right of the coin is his name Helmut Schmidt in a semicircle and on the right are the years 1918 and 2015. Beneath these years is the mint letter. This series of 5 coins were struck at different mints represented by a letter û A = Berlin, D = Munich, F = Stuttgart, G = Karlsruhe and J = Hamburg. On the left of the coin the letter æDÆ represents the abbreviation of Germany (Deutschland). This letter æDÆ should not be confused with the mint letter. The year 2018 is shown under the German D. The coins are in the quality BU (Brilliant Uncirculated). This is called in German Stempelglanz. The coins are mounted in a beautiful coincard, which provides further brief information about Berlin and its locations.
