Germany 2 Euro 2022 'Wartburg - Thuringia'. Annually, since 2006, Germany has issued a special 2 Euro coin from a Bundesland (province) depicting an important object from that region. The theme of the 2022 German 2 Euro is 'Wartburg' located in the state of 'Thuringia'. The state of Thuringia is located in the centre of Germany and its capital is 'Erfurt'. Wartburg is a castle located on a 442-metre high hill in Eisenach. The castle was originally built in the 11th century - the exact year is unknown. Over the centuries the castle was expanded further and further. An image of the Wartburg Castle is depicted on the face of this 2022 German 2 Euro coin. Furthermore, the name 'Thuringia' is displayed together with the year of issue, 2022. At the bottom is the letter 'D' which indicates the country name Deutschland (Germany). At the top left of the coin is the year 2022. German coins are struck in one of five mints, indicated by a letter which is shown at the top right of the coin - A = Berlin, D = Munich, F = Stuttgart, G = Karlsruhe and J = Hamburg.
