Germany 2 Euro BU 2023 'Hamburg'. Germany has issued the 'Bundesländer der Bundesrepublik Deutschland' (Provinces of Germany) series from 2006 to 2022. Germany has a total of 16 Bundesländer (provinces). To continue this tradition series 2 has now started to be published. The first coin from this series is 'Hamburg'. Hamburg is the second largest city in Germany and also the country's main port city. Almost 2 million people live in Hamburg where there is a relatively high unemployment rate of over 7%. The concert hall 'Elbphilharmonie' is depicted on the face of the coin, where no fewer than 2,100 people can enjoy a concert! The building opened on 10th January, 2017. German coins are struck in one of five mints which are indicated by a letter struck at the left centre of the coin. These letters are - A = Berlin, D = Munich, F = Stuttgart, G = Karlsruhe and J = Hamburg. The quality of the coins is BU (Brilliant Uncirculated). In German this is called Stempelglanz.
