Germany 2 Euro 2023 'Hamburg'. Germany has issued the 'Bundesländer der Bundesrepublik Deutschland' (Provinces of Germany) series from 2006 to 2022. Germany has a total of 16 Bundesländer. To continue this tradition series 2 has now started to be published. The first coin from this series is 'Hamburg'. Hamburg is the second largest city in Germany and also the country's main port city. Almost 2 million people live in Hamburg where there is a relatively high unemployment rate of over 7%. The concert hall 'Elbphilharmonie' is depicted on the face of the coin. The building which opened on 10th January, 2017 can hold up to 2,100 people! The German coins are minted in 5 different locations which are indicated by a letter struck at the centre left of the coin. The mint letters are - A = Berlin, D = Munich, F = Stuttgart, G = Karlsruhe and J = Hamburg. This series contains the coins from all five of the German mints. The coins are packaged in printed coin holders.
