Product Description
Ludwig van Beethoven was a German composer, conductor and musician. He is one of the best known composers who ever lived. His 'Für Elise' (for Elise) is one of his best-known works. His works have had major influences in nineteenth-century music. At the age of eleven Ludwig van Beethoven wrote his first compositions. His first work, the 'Dressler Variations', appeared in 1792. Beethoven left for Vienna for a short time in 1787, where he studied with another magnificent composer - Mozart. It was 250 years ago that Ludwig van Beethoven was born, which is why Germany has decided to issue a special 20 Euro coin. On the face of the coin is an image of Ludwig van Beethoven. Encircling this image are the texts 'Ludwig van Beethoven' and '250th Geburtstag 1770 - 1827' - (geburtsdag = birthday). On the reverse of the coin is the text 'Bundesrepublik Deutschland' (Federal Republic of Germany) together with the value indication of 20 Euro. The famous German Eagle is centred on the coin. The coin is made of Sterling Silver (Ag 925) which is shown, in German, under the eagle 'silber 925'. The coin is packed in a printed coin holder.
