Germany 5 Euro 2020 Polar Zone

This is the fourth coin from the German five-part series of 5 Euro coins with the subject of the Earth's climate zones. This series of coins, with a coloured ring, will be issued in the years 2017 to 2021. The colours of the rings are as follows - 2017 = red, 2018 = orange, 2019 = green, 2020 = turquoise and 2021 = purple. The German 5 Euro 2020 has the theme of the Polar Zone (Arctic region) and has a turquoise ring. The Polar zone is located north of the Arctic Circle and south of the Antarctic Circle. Most of the surface of these areas used to be permanently covered by snow and ice. The sun shines obliquely on these areas so less heat is absorbed by the soil. In summer it is light in the Arctic for 24 hours and in winter it is dark 24 hours a day! Due to global warming the ice is disappearing faster and faster and it is expected that in 25 years and there will be no more ice. On the face of the coin an Elk is depicted on a piece of ice. The coin shows icebergs and ice sheets which are characteristic of these areas. In addition a tower of a research station is also shown. At the bottom of the coin is the text 'SUBPOLARE ZONE'. The reverse of this series of coins is always the same, in the centre is the Federal Eagle above which is the mint letter. The coin is struck in five different places, this can be seen by the letter of the mint and the colour of the Turquoise rings. At the bottom of the coin is the year 2020. In the outer ring of the coin is the country name Bundesrepublik Deutschland (Federal Republic of Germany). Furthermore, the value indication of 5 Euro is shown with the 12 stars of Europe unevenly distributed around it. Additionally, the Turquoise ring is immediately recognizable. This ring is made of the material Polymer. The edge lettering of the coin is CLIMATE ZONES DER ERDE (Climate zones of the Earth). The quality of the coins is UNC. A loose coin is delivered with the mint letter of our choice. The coin is packaged in a printed coin holder.
