Product Description

This is the fifth and final coin from the German five-part series of 5 Euro coins that have the Earth's Climate Zones as their subject. This series of coins, with a coloured ring, have been issued in the years 2017 to 2021. The colours of the rings are as follows: 2017 = red, 2018 = orange, 2019 = green, 2020 = turquoise and 2021 = purple. The 2021 German 5 Euro has the theme 'Polar Zone' and has a purple ring. The Polar Zones are located north of the Arctic Circle and south of the Antarctic Circle. Most of these areas used to be permanently covered by snow and ice. The sun shines diagonally on these areas so that less heat is absorbed by the ground. During summer in the Polar Regions it is light for 24 hours and in the winter it is dark 24 hours a day! Due to global warming the ice is disappearing at an increased rate and it is expected that in 25 years there will be no more ice. The face of the coin shows a seal swimming under the ice surface. Icebergs and ice plains, which are characteristic of these areas, are also shown. At the bottom is the text POLARE ZONE (Polar zone). The reverse of this series of coins is always the same - the Federal Eagle is depicted in the centre with the letter indicating the mint above the Eagle's head. The coins are minted in five different sites which can be seen from the letter of the mint and the shade of the purple rings. At the bottom of the coin is the year 2021, in the outer ring of the coin is the country name Bundesrepublik Deutschland (Federal Republic of Germany). Furthermore, the value indication of 5 Euro is shown, with the 12 stars of Europe unevenly distributed around it. Additionally, the purple ring, which made of a polymer material, is immediately obvious. The edge lettering of the coin is KLIMAZONEN DER ERDE (Climate zones of the Earth). The quality of the coins is UNC. This is the complete series of coins from all five of Germany's mints which are indicated by the letters A, D, F, G and J. All of the coins are packed in printed coin holders.
